I can make calls, but not receive calls

Answer

If you are able to connect your IP Phone and you can make calls (e.g. call our Echo app on *600), but not receive calls (go straight to voicemail and your IP Phone never rings), then the problem is most likely related to NAT issues with your router. To work around the issue there are a couple of things you can do:

  1. Configure a STUN server to help your IP Phone to understand what it's public IP address is. There are a number of Public STUN servers you can use
  2. Set your public IP address manually. There may be an option for you to manually specify your public IP address on your IP Phone's configuration page. This is usually under Network Settings, NAT or Topology depending on the IP Phone you are using.

Some routers known to cause problems:

  • Thomson TG585
  • Some Netgear routers
